Olive oil is the main added source of fat in the mediterranean diet, providing 9 kcal/gr (1 spoon = 10ml, 90 kcal). The recommended daily intake of monosaturated fatty acids must be about 10% of the whole daily intake of energy. This also has to be part of the daily intake of fats, which must not be above 30% of the daily energy intake.
